Platelet indices in gestational diabetes mellitus and normal pregnancies: A comparative study

Background: A condition known as gestational diabetes mellitus occurs when there is any level of glucose intolerance that begins during pregnancy or discovered for the first-time pregnancy. The prime purpose identifying women with GDM to detect who are at risk developing this and also decrease perinatal morbidity mortality. In India, considered a significant health issue prevalence rates 4.6% 14% in urban areas, 1.7% 13.2% rural areas. India has an estimated number 62 million people type 2 mellitus. Increasing cases increases development later life.Aim: aim study was assess platelet indices & normal healthy compare various parameters among them.Materials Methods: This conducted R. L. Jalappa Hospital Kolar. period January 2021 December 2022. 138 pregnant women, 69 pregnancies above 20 weeks gestation were enrolled study. Complete blood investigations sent, compared two groups.Results: shown statistical difference between groups respect count, PDW, MPV, PCT P-LCR. mean count patients 1,39,620/mm3 whereas 2,66,420/mm3. distribution width higher (16.22fL) (11.29fL). Mean Platelet Volume 13.71fL, it 9.49fL, which significantly former group.Because changes morphology platelet, plateletcrit (0.23%) lower (0.21%). value P-LCR increased (31.17%) without (26.35%).Conclusion: present study, we have found low PDW women.
